We’re proud to have been locally owned and managed for 40 years! The tradition continues with the
June 2008 acquisition of the agency by previous management, Raylene Appleby and Lance Smith. We
believe there are three important factors that contribute to our longevity and success: our
customers, companies and employees.
We’ve spent decades building relationships with our great customers. We appreciate their loyalty and
referrals. We understand that our customers have worked hard to establish their homes and businesses.
In return, we take the time to form relationships with our customers and offer the products that will benefit
them the most. Many of our customers are located in Springfield and the Ozarks, but you will also find our
customers in nine other states throughout the Midwest. As an independent insurance agency, we represent
over 120 insurance companies. Our management serves on several key insurance carriers’ regional and
national advisory councils. The diverse carrier representation and council presence give PJC the ability
to operate in several niche markets and meet the unique needs of our customers. Both our Commercial
and Personal Lines insurance carriers offer automated programs to complete and submit applications to
underwriters online, and, in some cases, bind business online, providing our customers with a
quick turnaround.
PJC has been at the forefront of the transportation insurance industry for many years. We are one of the
Midwest’s leading truck insurance agencies, allowing us to proudly serve truckers in Missouri and surrounding
states. The Commercial Department, under the management of Bob Meek, Senior Vice President, offers
great diversity through niche markets. Under the direction of Raylene Appleby (a former bank holding
company Risk Manager), the agency offers leading insurance products for community banks.
The Corporate Health Department, managed by Ted Andrews, assists employers with their employees’
health needs, both on and off the job. The department provides vendors of services, consultative strategies,
insurance contracts and products designed to interact with the costs, sources and goals associated with employee
health issues. The Personal Lines Department has experienced successful growth under the management
of Melissa Shelton and offers competitive home, auto, and other personal lines products.
We are extremely proud of our employees, our biggest strength. Many of our employees have been with
the agency for decades. Our employees help maintain the long-term relationships we have established with
